Ryan Orcutt and Jeff Hudson rally to win 2017 Lehigh Valley Regular-Senior Better Ball of Partners Championship
BETHLEHEM TWP. — Ryan Orcutt of Bethlehem and Jeff Hudson of Upper Saucon Township rallied with an 8-under-par back nine Sunday to win the 23rd annual Lehigh Valley Regular-Senior Better Ball of Partners Championship at Green Pond Country Club.
Orcutt, 39, and Hudson, 52, combined to shoot 9-under-par 35-27–62 to win by two strokes over the Wedgewood Golf Course duo of John Olszewski and son AJ Olszewski, who shot 32-32–64.
Riley Hogan and Jim Robertson finished third at 33-32–65.
Jason Wilson of South Whitehall Township and Ed Kluemper of Bethlehem Township, who won the tournament the past four years, shot 67 to tie for sixth place.
Orcutt and Hudson trailed several teams after shooting 1-under-par 35 on the front nine. Orcutt, a former Freedom High School golfer (1996), birdied the fourth hole.
On the back nine, Orcutt and Hudson birdied eight consecutive holes before Hudson lipped out a 20-foot birdie putt on the 18th green.
The duo made birdie putts on the 10th (Orcutt, six feet), 11th (Orcutt, ten feet), 12th (Hudson, 35 feet), 13th (Orcutt, four feet), 14th (Hudson, ten feet), 15th (Hudson, eight feet), 16th (Hudson, one foot), and 17th hole (Hudson, 15 feet).
Hudson has won the 2004 Lehigh Valley Amateur, 2014 Lehigh Valley Tournament of Champions, and the 2015 and 2016 Lehigh Valley Senior Amateur Medal Play Championship.
Orcutt teamed with former Freedom golfer Ryan Hally in mid-May to win the 4th annual Donald Ross Invitational at Silver Creek Country Club.
