Former Emmaus golfer Kyle Wambold ties for fourth place in Pennsylvania Open

MANHEIM TOWNSHIP, PA — Former Emmaus golfer Kyle Wambold rallied with a final round 2-under-par 32-36–68 to finish tied for fourth place Wednesday in the 102nd Pennsylvania Open Championship at Lancaster Country Club.
Wambold, a 23 year-old Lower Macungie Township resident, finished with a 54-hole score of 1-under-par 71-70-68–209. He finished five strokes behind winner Kevin Kraft of Harrisburg, who shot 6-under-par 68-64-72–204.
Beginning the final round tied for 11th place, Wambold got off to a hot start Wednesday with birdies on the par-4 first, second, and fourth holes. He made 13 consecutive pars until closing with a bogey on the final hole.
Wambold, a 2017 Binghamton University graduate, was a four-year starter for the Bearcats golf program. During his career at Binghamton, Wambold won two tournaments and registered ten top-10 finishes.
A four-year starter at Emmaus, Wambold advanced to the PIAA state tournament in 2010, and the PIAA East Region event in 2011. Wambold qualified for the 2014 and 2016 Pennsylvania Amateur.
In May of 2017, Wambold advanced to the sectional qualifying round for the 2017 U.S. Open.
Last August, Wambold turned professional at the 2017 Pennsylvania Open. He also tied the Allentown Municipal Golf Course facility low record score of 61; which was originally set by PGA TOUR star Arnold Palmer during an exhibition match with Gary Player on August 10, 1963.
This past winter and spring, Wambold caddied in Florida, and participated in a Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada qualifier, where he earned conditional status.
