June 12, 2018
BETHLEHEM — Former Stroudsburg High School golfer Riley Hogan shot 2-over-par for 14 holes Sunday to earn amateur medalist honors in the rain-shortened 2018 Lehigh Valley Open Amateur Qualifying Tournament at the Bethlehem Golf Club.
Hogan, a 23-year-old Saylorsburg resident, led a group of six Amateur Division qualifiers.
The tournament was shortened to 14 holes due to heavy rain.
Former Southern Lehigh golfer Cory Schmidt (2009), Carlos Fullerton of Lower Macungie Township, and Mike Casella of Bethlehem tied for second place at 3-over-par.
Three golfers shot 3-over-par 74 over a full 18 holes to share medalist honors in the Senior Amateur Division: Bethlehem residents James Boburka and Joe Jasinski, and Joe Coulson of Upper Saucon Township.
Overall, six amateurs and three senior amateurs advanced to compete in the 2018 Lehigh Valley Open, to be played July 23-24 at Northampton Country Club.
